TOP 5 THE FOLD SONGS

The Fold, the four people responsible for making the soundtracks of every season. This rock band from Chicago never fails to disappoint with their upbeat, fantastic songs for fans to dance and rock to. With the classic Weekend Whip to the the Time is Now, one of their newest songs for Season 7, each song is full of energy and just plain beauty. However, they aren’t all the same and deserve a ranking. Just note that my taste in music is extremely strange, so don’t take my opinion too harshly when wanting to comment to it.

5. Time is Now

I heard this song recently since I’ve been fading around from Ninjago the last few months, and it’s wonderful. Not liking Hands of Time, this song does capture the season well. Time is crunching down, with the verse “Ninjago’s in trouble/ Each second counts” and they must stop Acronix and Krux from making the Iron Doom. For being The Fold song, this song has much more verses, and more story wrapped around in it than the other songs. In a rounded, rhythmic beat, this song makes it to number five.

4. Spinning out of Color

This song makes Number 4 on the list. I’m not sure if you see how this could be one of the songs in the episodes when the ninja are using spinjitzu. These fruit colored ninja in pajamas have defeated countless enemies with it, and this is what this song represents. This is the first move we learn about in the series, in the very first pilot episode. Spinning Out of Color represents spinjitzu, in a well done, spintastic song.

3. Full Digital

When I first heard this song, I instantly fell in love with. This song is one of the most underrated and the beat is fast, something you can just grove to, and then it moves slow, a time of recovery,  and then goes quicker again. The beat is like a battle that the ninja have fought. The lyrics to me is the ninja in Rebooted. At first, they are confident, ready to rush into battle to protect New Ninjago City from evil, but then they realize that they’re stronger than what they imagined, with Lloyd being targeted and the Nindroids invading. They know that in order to defeat them, they must call for help (Cyrus Borg) and use the technology the city has evolved with while they’ve been gone.

2. After the Blackout

Now most of my songs seem to be coming from the Rebooted soundtrack, but I only do this because this is the first time The Fold has shown us a full approach to what they can give us.  The song is about how exposed Ninjago was when the ninja went away after the Final Battle, and how they realized the city needed them, hence “After the blackout I could finally see/ I knew the day would come when I would have to defend my home city.” After the Blackout, with the catchy chorus and the guitar work done, it has to be number two on the list.

1. The Weekend Whip

Listen it all the versions in this handy playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2LtvBspRRM9JJ-4pr9ybuQW66tlZ_CaY

I’m not surprised if you’ve expected this song. The intro song is the one that made us crash and dance while in the first 30 seconds of the show. For every fan, this is the first song we remember and won’t forget, something part of our childhood for us old fans. Jumping up and kicking back, we must have felt like true ninja grooving this song. Even better, The Fold outdoes themselves by remixing every season, with Possession’s spooky theme and Rebooted’s technological beat.

How do you feel about The Fold? What are your favorite songs? Feel free to let us know in the comment section below! By the way, this is probably one of the hardest posts I’ve written since I love every song. I guess you could say I’m a fan of them, and I didn’t realize that until I had to choose.
