I’ve been laying off set images recently, until I kept hearing Temple of Resurrection when I hopped onto Twitter. Everyone seemed to be pointing at it and talking about Garmadon being resurrected, I couldn’t get it out of my head. I thought it was a silly idea, until I did a little research and found it was true. This is an amazing reveal, and just comes to show how much sets can give away about the next seasons of the show. Here I am going to show you some screenshots I grabbed and break down the elements of each picture.
The first picture is the Temple of Resurrection set. We see what seems to be Lloyd on type and a guy with a red sword and a wrench (?)right below. We see another person in a dark with a red sword, the same as the guy that Lloyd is going to attack. They are also some other characters we don’t know in the background, and Cole still with the baby on his back preparing to fight one of the babies. The baby seems to very important if the ninja aren’t going to bother to protect him well. This could relate to Wu wanting to remember Spinjitzu, and studying the ninja while they fight. The red blades the villains seem to be welding reminds me of the time blades, the djinn blade, and the other blades that are in each season. I am not sure if it will be important as if you look at the picture below, that’s not what they are aiming for.
The item the ninja want to get this season are the Oni Masks. The Oni Masks are most likely the masks from the Season 8 trailer. I researched what the Oni masks are in Japanese culture and from Wikipedia, it says,
Oni (鬼) are a kind of yōkai (Japanese ghost) from Japanese folklore, variously translated as demons, devils, ogres, or trolls. They are popular characters in Japanese art, literature, and theatre.
This seems to make sense in Ninjago terms, as it is a mix of Chinese and Japanese culture, and that if the masks are going to resurrect Garmadon, the “demon” part is involved since they are revived the version of him who got infected by the Great Devourer’s venom. There is multiple Oni Masks, it looks like, so the sneak peek showed the first one getting stolen.
Here is a minifigure of Jay, holding a golden sort of weapon. His suit is similar to the movie one, although not exact. He seems to not have an eyebrow notch on his eye, which seems off-setting to me. Overall he doesn’t give much away but is nice to see what changes the designers have decided on.
Here is Lloyd, and a villain right beside him. His suit seems to be different from the movie and the sneak peek one, and seems to have some sort of effect near the symbol. I think that Lloyd might be wearing this suit when he is at the temple of resurrection, since symbols are important for rituals. We also have the villain’s suit, which I really adore- it is very detailed like the Hands of Time Samurai Suit. The gray skin is interesting as well; he could be a spirit from the Oni masks. The hair is also a reminder of Nadakhan’s.
This is a miscellaneous picture I found from some of the sets- they seem to have biker outfits and don’t seem to portray anything much. The first guy seems to be from the Temple of Resurrection set picture, and could be some sort of mechanic. The second and third person both have swords associated with them, and seem to be affiliated with each ones.
This is another picture I found, and it seems to be the person that we will find under the blue mask from the trailer. The fact that it’s a girl is compelling, but this seems to be a trait to have another female villain in the most recent seasons. As you can see, each minifigure of people we don’t know have a gray, purplish theme. The purple seems to be a similar color to Clouse’s magic…
Here we have Zane, looking brilliant in his white gi. It’s similar to his movie outfit but not exact. Not much here but it looks really nice.The thin line of blue that runs through his suit is cool, as in this season we find out about Zane’s origins.
The final picture, this one confirms that Garmadon isn’t the only one with four arms. The red masked person from the trailer seems to have no face, besides the white reddish eyes that poke out. We see the full suit, extra tall just like our Lord Garmadon and clad in a red, white, and black suit. This might be the main villain of the season, as its suit is the most intricate and copies what the cultists are trying to do.

1. Zane’s origins!!! And perhaps Cole’s too!
2. Purple was also the color of the matter that was in season 2. I don’t remember its name it the moment but it turned everyone evil, encluding the ninja. Maybe something has to do with that stuff.
3. I’m releived that the suits are at least a little different. The different hairstyles creep me out but I keep telling myself, ‘same personalities, same voices.’ I hope they haven’t changed scripts to make the ninja too different (Jay still needs to be my outgoing ball of craziness)
4. A woman villain seems to be a trend here. Never the top villain, but second in command, like in seasons 5-7. I hope one day a woman will be the top bad guy, not because I’m a feminist but I mean guys aren’t the only evil people on ghe planet.
